Upon your arrival in Hargeisa, you will receive immigration assistance, followed by a transfer to your hotel for check-in. If time permits, enjoy a walking tour of the city centre, beginning with the Civil War Memorial. Continue to explore the Central Market, money changers, and the Livestock Market. Don’t miss the Hargeisa Cultural Centre for a taste of local art and history. Overnight at at Damal Hotel or similar. .
After breakfast, head into the city centre to celebrate Somaliland Independence Day (18 May) with the flag hoisting, military and civilian parades, and join locals in celebrating national pride. Expect music, dancing, festive crowds, and a patriotic atmosphere that fills the streets. You will have front-row access, with your guide ensuring a unique experience.
After the celebrations, depart Hargeisa for Laas Geel to explore its impressive Neolithic rock art. The vibrant, well-preserved paintings are estimated to be around ten thousand years old.
